Emergency crews in Rensselaer County responded to State Route 67 in the town of Hoosick for an individual struck by a vehicle at around 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25.
A preliminary investigation found that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on SR 67 when the victim walked into the roadway in its path, New York State Police said.
The victim suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities were withholding their identity until their family was notified
Troopers interviewed the driver, who remained at the scene and called for emergency services.
SR 67 was closed for several hours while crews investigated. The roadway has since reopened.
